Other items you will need to Order

Hopefully, you are excited you have preordered your brand new Fire TV Stick 4K Max. If you haven’t yet, we left a post on the side for you to do so.

Next, you need a better power adapter. Now, this comes in as a bundle with the brand new Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

But if you already placed your order, just order this one separately. This is going to be plugged into the TV and then into the Fire TV Stick 4K Max freeing up the wires from running all over the place.

This is the Mission Powered USB power cord for the Amazon Fire TV Sticks. The US power cable has a Mission Powered Battery Storage System that pulls power from the TV. Holds it in its battery storage system then releases it to the Fire TV Stick when needed. (Hopefully, that made sense.)

Third, you most likely will want to add on either some 3M wall mount strips or some zip ties.

You don’t want this power bank hanging from the TV. Do yourself a favorite and get the real 3M stuff, not a knockoff brand. You want the heavy-duty stuff that can hold up the Mission Powered USB Cord.

Depending on how clean you want this to look on the back of the Television will depend if you buy just the 3M strips. Or opt in for both the 3M Strips and zip ties.

The next item you are going to need is an OTG hub. I know others will tell you to get the OTG cord adapter or OTG adapter. Both are great but we want to add on something else to help the Fire TV Stick 4K Max push out as much power as possible.

I say get the hub that has the OTG hub for the ethernet connection on the end and 3 USBs. If your Fire TV Stick 4K Max is plugged into the internet directly, it will run a whole lot smoother when watching Live TV. This will kill off the buffering these Fire TV Sticks tend to have.

The thing about this HUB is that you can add the SSD right into the Enclosure. This is the ACASIS 10-in-1 USB-C Hub. A whole lot cooler than the other hubs on the market, but this is just in case you want to go high-tech.

Plus it’s easier to add on the last item to the Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

Last, you want an SSD Drive. Nothing at this point in time runs smoother than an SSD Drive 2TB. Plus at the moment they are really affordable unlike when they first came out.

If you are going to add on storage you may as well add on the best storage system possible. Don’t waste your time on anything else. You can get the hub, then add onto the hub an SSD drive and other cards you may have your content added on.

I will say on the older Fire TV Stick when you plug in storage a message would pop up and say, “USB Drive Mounted. The USB drive has been mounted. Note that only microSD cards can be used to expand storage for app installation.”

Even though this message may pop up is no longer true. You can use any external storage drive to expand the storage on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max 2023. We are going to talk about that below.

How to Expand the Storage

This would be the setup if you got the regular USB hub.

• Plug USB Hub into your new Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

• Plug in the Mission Powered USB Cord to the USB Hub.

• On the USB Hub, the USB ports are open. Plug the SSD Drive into the USB Hub.

• Plug the Fire TV Stick 4K Max into the Television HDMI.

• Plug the Mission Powered USB Cord into the Television.

This would be the setup you got for the ACASIS 10-in-1 USB-C Hub.

• Plug the ACASIS Hub into your new Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

• Plug in the Mission Powered USB Cord to the ACASIS Hub.

• On the ACASIS Hub it has 10 ports, plug in the drive you plan on using.

• Plug the Fire TV Stick 4K Max into the Television HDMI.

• Plug the Mission Powered USB Cord into the Television.

Before turning on your Television, take out your drive. Turn on your Television. Let’s get your brand new Fire TV Stick 4K MAX some more storage. Make sure you are all logged into your accounts on the device. Get to the Home Screen on your Fire TV Stick 4K Max.

• Move over to Settings, then down and over to My Fire TV.

• Click on About

• Move down to Storage

• You will see No Storage is detected, plug your drive back into the Hub.

• Unable to read USB Device, Move over to Device Storage and click on it

This will take a while depending on how much space is on the drive.

In Conclusion

Go back to My Fire TV -> About -> Check the storage. You should see your added-on storage as External Storage. It’s formatted to the Fire TV Stick 4K Max so don’t worry.

You can move the application over to the External Storage keeping the storage free on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max itself.

With some applications, you may want to use Aptoide TV Store to download applications like Plex. This would be the mod version of Plex that runs smoothly with the External Storage.

You are all set to go. We are not teaching you how to jailbreak the Fire TV Stick 4K Max. You are on your own with that task.

I will say, by the time it took you to do all of that. You could have just ordered a Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro.
