Today we are going to chat about one of my favorite Open Source Home Theater Software systems in the world and that is Kodi. Kodi can be placed on any streaming device in the world, even the Apple TVs.

A lot of people have asked the question Is Kodi dead? The answer is clearly No.

Kodi is far from dead and here is why. When it comes to Live TV, Live International TV, Live Sports, and Live Pay-Per-Views, Kodi is still number ONE with the smoothness of playing that it offers.

There are IPTV Services out there, which was born from Kodi originally. But with so many in the game and its paid monthly options, this killed IPTV Services for me. I never used a paid IPTV Service and I don’t recommend it to anyone. Read more on our blog, Should you buy an IPTV Service?

You need codes to load the IPTV, the same way you need codes for Kodi add-ons, and Kodi Builds. And now with Kodi 19.4 being out, there are not many codes that work with the new server.

(Update: October 2023, Kodi is now Nexus 20.2, and all add-ons work with this new system. Plus beta testing for Kodi v21 Omega is out for developers. If you are a developer please feel free to join the Kodi community on their website Kodi.TV.)

The great part is that you can access your Plex anywhere in the world, kinda like a Nas Drive System.

Can Kodi be added to an Apple TV in 2023?

As crazy as it sounds, yes, Kodi can still be added to an Apple TV in 2023. I first started adding Kodi to Apple devices back in 2013 when Kodi was XMBC.

I would Jailbreak iPads and add Kodi onto it with the Beast Build then resell it for $400.

Fast forward to 2016, Apple TVs were out and you could sign Kodi onto the Apple TV. You would need to pay the developer fee of $100 a year to Apple to keep Kodi on the Apple TV.

After a few years, I started to notice a lot of ways to sideload onto the Apple TV started to get blocked by Apple. Now here we are towards the end of 2023 and there is only a handful of ways to sideload an Apple TV.

If you have an Apple TV, the software system must be tvOS 15 and up for it to be sideload aka Jailbroken. Take our Video Class: Jailbreak Apple TV. There is a hacked version of YouTube but it’s off and on when it comes to working.
