Here we are towards the end of 2023. Happy Holidays and New Year from the team at Devices (D3vicx). How is it that the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 is still the most popular and powerful streaming device on the market today in the Fall of 2023 heading into 2024?

Other companies have had years to catch up and even pass the Nvidia Shield TV Pro running Android 9 version 8.2.1. None took the challenge, Apple came very close with the Apple TV 4K 128GB 3rd Generation but not close enough. You can still do so much more on the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019.

Some people have fooled themselves or let others fool them into thinking the Fire TV Cube 3 passes the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 in performance. The Fire TV Cube 3 didn’t even come close at all, that device was a letdown from the start.

But let's jump into a feature that reigns supreme on the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019.

It has everything, like RetroArch for playing Retro Games. This is the best streaming device on the Market for Jailbreaking. You can load these things up to the moon and back. With the 2 USB 3.0 ports on the back, you can add so much more GB space onto the device as you like.

You can downgrade them to whatever Android you like, I always stay with Android 9, v8.2.1. You can customize the hell out of that version. Even to have Kodi on your main home screen with movies to pick from if you have the right build.

So why RetroArch? Well, Hyperspin has been giving a lot of people problems since the new update. Were RetroArch is just so old school. Reminds me of Kodi and how raw the system is until you load it up. RetroArch is slept on by a lot of people but when Hyperspin is not working RetroArch will work. I’ll tell you more below.

RetroArch vs Hyperspin

Can I say this is a versus piece?

I only got Hyperspin to work once and after that, I have no clue what happened. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it, I even redownloaded the 200GB of Games over and over again. A few times using Usenet and then as a Torrent. I will say the Usenet let me know articles were missing but it wouldn’t complete the download due to this information.

To use Usenet when articles are missing you need more than 1 server. I paid for the server I was using and didn’t understand why it couldn’t get all the files. I will link the Reddit article about that problem in a few.

So because of this, I decided to see if RetroArch would work without these articles and it did. I also got to use some of the other Emulators for the Nintendo 64, PSP, and I forget the last one maybe Dreamcast. Either way, you can get all these Emulators under one roof RetroArch just like Hyperspin.

We have the 200GB for Android 9 Nvidia Shield Pro. And less than 200GB for Android 11 Nvidia Shield Pro. Now I haven’t tested Android 11 just yet. I want to be clear on that. But it should work the same. I don’t have an Nvidia Shield Pro with Android 11 to test it.

Where to download free Retro Roms?

This information can be on YouTube. I will say it feels like this video is buried deep into YouTube. Try searching it and you won’t see it. Anytime you try to search for Retro Games or Retro Roms on YouTube it’s blocked.

The reason is that Nintendo has a copyright on games.

So if someone were to share how to down free Nintendo Games, YouTube would flag the video and give that person a strike. So now you have to be very thoughtful about how you name anything. That goes for giving things away for free.

If you are looking for a great device, the Nvidia Shield Pro has it all even RetroArch. The RetroArch can pull up any gaming system from the pass. All you have to do is have all the information in one folder ready to go.

Depending on the storage size of the folder. I recommend putting it on a USB drive and putting it on the back of the Nvidia Shield Pro. Get a gaming controller, a lot of people like the Xbox controller. You will need to map out the controller buttons before you can do anything else.
