Does installing APKs on my Android device void my warranty?

There can be a few risks but if you know how to manage the risk you should be good to go. Use Virustotal when scranning APK, meaning Android Package Kit before loading them onto your Android device.

There are so meaning APKs out there in 2023 moving into 2024. People try to scare you can saying it will void the Warranty on the Android Device. That my friend is a LIE. By sideloading an APK you are not voiding anything. You are not even in the Android Device Settings.

You are just loading on an App that is not in the Google Play Store.

Does Google Care? Not really if you ask me. They have taken steps to make partnerships work by slowing down sideloading without pissing a lot of people off all at the same time. Let me explain.

#NVIDIASHIELD gave everyone the update to Android 11. A terrible piece of s**h of an upgrade. This was done on purpose. The first thing this update did was mess up Kodi and Plex for people. This is them making their partners happy. If you can’t use Kodi or Plex, you are more likely to just pay for a monthly subscription.

We are still talking about #NVIDIASHIELD here.

At the same time, NVIDIA put on their website a way techie people like us, could get the files and downgrade back the Nvidia Shield Pros back to Android 9. Giving us back the control to keep customizing our own Nvidia Shield Pro devices. (Sorry, I know I just blew your mind.)

See, you are not voiding the Warranty on the device at all. Even with the downgrade, you are not voiding the Warranty. You can easily go into Settings and upgrade to Android 11 and your Nvidia Shield Pro will still be in Warranty.

The only risk you really need to worry about is a virus or malware that is attached to the APK you are loading onto your device. Oh, we are going to chat about that below right now.

What are the Security Risks of sideloading Android apps?

The first ever APK I saw malware attached to was Mobdro. It was NOT malicious malware let’s state that fact. The malware told a third-party company when you would be on your streaming device and what you would do while on.

They were collecting your data like Facebook or Google. For Mobdro to stay free they needed to get paid so this was something that they did, until Virustotal exposed them. Also, NXTLVL Tech from YouTube exposed them on video back in 2017 if that is still up.

From what I remember this started to make everyone scan an APK just in case to see if something was attached or not. The only other APK I’ve seen with stuff like this attached to it is UK Turks. The problem with UK Turks is there is a whole FAKE website out there claiming to be UK Turks but they are not. Even the site has malware all over it.

Here is another problem, this site and this version of the UK Turks APK is sitting in a very popular third-party APK store. I wanted to compare what we do here at D3vicx to other APK stores. We are the winner by a long shot for sure. Half the APKs in these APK third-party stores are mostly for your Android Phone not for the Android TV Streaming Device. This is a big difference between our shops.

I did wonder why they gave out such vague information. I found the answer, it’s for website ad clicks. They get paid every time you click on their website whether the information still works or not. This is bogus and scamming if you ask me.
