The Plot

(Spoilers are all through this blog.) I believe it’s a matter of debt, the debt we all live in is so relatable. In this show, the debt is just heartbreaking but will you get the lesson that it’s teaching you as well? I have had a few talks with people about what I believe the lesson is and it’s not really about the debt. It’s about us the people and the bad decision that we sometimes make.

Everyone is so focused on getting rich that when you don’t have the money you start to lose a part of yourself because your focus is just the money. In this show, a few people's colors really started to show. The things that they will do for money and to be on top. No matter who they have to use to get there even if they call you a loved one.

(Spoiler) This show goes as far as a guy (number 218) putting up everything his mother owns for a deal. He clearly doesn’t win the deal because he ends up in the game. But his mother had no clue about this, she talks about how great and smart her son is to everyone. And on the other hand, he is doing bad deals and putting what she worked so hard for on the line. Towards the middle, she does find out who her son really is. Pretty much everyone tries to make a promise to their loved ones and a lot are broken due to their deaths.

We also find out in South Korea that debt is passed down within the family. It’s not like that in the US, you die and your debt dies as well.

I don’t think the people in this show think about how it can only be 1 winner like in Hunger Games. And yet everyone thinks it’s going to be them. Also, I see how a lot of men in the world think, older people, and women are weak.

This is how men see women and the alder today and this needs to stop. I say this because this is not true at all. Women are not weak, we think more like playing chess a few moves before you. I work on my own vehicle which stocks a lot of people but why?

Because you have it in your mind a female can’t do this or this is something normally females don’t do, which is totally false. Women do it all and we have babies and then get back to business, I can’t say that about men. Our alder gives us wisdom due to them still being alive at their age, which we are hoping to get to.

My favorite character is number 001, he is an old man with a brain tumor. All these games he played as a kid and he loved them. It made him feel alive back then and now today as he plays them. (Spoiler) As they go to play tug of war I’m thinking to myself this game has to be a strategy game not just about strength. Number 001 had a team of 3 women, himself an older man, and about 5 average guys but they went in with a strategy against a team with 10 average guys and won. Life is about having a strategy in tough situations if you ask me. And don’t count anyone out that’s on your team, you never know what they bring to the table when it’s time to eat.

Overall I did like the show, it was crazy and made me really think about what it could be about. And how to have a strategy in tough moments even when I think it’s no way out, there is always a way. It shows a lot of mental health problems people can end up with as well after seeing a lot of death but also pushes us to move on because life is so short. I will say this show pulls on your heartstrings and helps open up the mind. Some parts are just so sad to watch and just completely heartbreaking, I will say. I do love this show, it’s up there with Black Mirror as being crazy but can be so true all at once.
