Update, June 24th, 2024 at this time we no longer recommend any budget-friendly streaming device. This includes the Chromecast Google TV 4K, TiVo Stream 4K, Onn Pro, and Firestick 4K Max. The main reason for this is due to the cheap Chinese processor chips that are hosted in budget-friendly streaming devices that keep costs low.
When you have cheap processor chips after a few months of heating up it’s going to cause that streaming device a lot of problems. We are only recommending premium streaming devices with top-of-the-line processor chips. Like the Apple TV 4K comes with the A15 Bionic chip and the Nvidia Shield Pro comes with the NVIDIA® Tegra® X1+ processor.
When you buy cheap you end up buying twice or sometimes up to four times if you didn’t learn your lesson. This sometimes ends up being double or triple the price you would have spent if you just bought the premium device first. We see it here all the time.
People run out and buy a cheap Jailbroken Firestick for $129.99 or a Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro for $329.99. 6 months to a year later, people emailed us, telling us they were not happy with the cheaper option they went with and asked if we could reload their device for them with our Elite System. We are here in March of 2024 and a lot has changed. I thought at one point the Google TV 4K was going to be King of the budget-friendly devices, oh boy was I wrong. Here is what happened. Someone thought it would be a great idea to put Android 12 on the Google TV 4K.
The Google TV 4K was not built to handle a software system like the Android 12. I started to notice the device slowed down a ton and there was no way of fixing it. So I started to shop around again and came across the TiVo Stream 4K device. The TiVo Stream 4K checked all our boxes of what was needed. However, I was blown away by the ability to expand the storage on the device with the Type C cable.
Whoever designed the TiVo Stream 4K really thought of the future. I love this streaming device, it has an amazing remote control and the streaming device has a built-in TV Guide. Just click the silver button on the remote and it will take you to the TV Guide. The app for the TV Guide is already set up, you do nothing. With all these natural amazing features we wanted to add the Elite System to the TiVo Stream 4K and it worked out perfectly.

We replaced the Google TV 4K because the Android software got too big for the device. It just killed the speed.

In Conclusion
We know, for the last 2 years we have been saying the Jailbroken Chromecast Google TV 4K is a winner but time told the story. That all budget-friendly devices are money grabs. They are designed to pull you in with the cheap price get you hooked and not last.
Next thing you know, you are going back to the store to buy more. That cheap price makes you feel like you are getting a deal. They are looking out for you. When you take the rose color glasses off, you see what the companies are truly doing. This happened to me. When I got tired of replacing the Firestick for the fifth time I needed a better option.
I searched and noticed the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 I bought the device right away. I couldn’t have been any happier to stop dealing with budget-friendly devices that were not so friendly in giving me headaches because they buffered all the time. Then Firesticks started to get blocked in NYC by the internet providers so you could no longer stream without a VPN.
