Before I tell you how to fix something you first must understand the problem. It’s so many reasons why your streaming device is buffering. Since we are the pros and we deal with this on a daily basis we are going to try and help you understand which problem you are having. My Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro and Internet Set Up in 2024
Plume Pods
My Nvidia Shield Pro is Jailbroken it has No home screen ads running on Android 9 version 8.2.1. My settings are crazy but I blocked the update to Android 11, no popups about updating to Android 11.
I block automatic updates on all apps in the Google Play Store. It’s not needed, I want to freeze my device in time where it works the best, never any need for updates on the streaming device itself.
My internet provider is Spectrum which is a nightmare at times. The Modem/Router is terrible and it blocks a ton of stuff. So I have Plume Pods, which I run Spectrum Internet WiFi through. Don’t look at the FAKE Spectrum Pods they are offering on their site, they are not real Plume Pods. Plume Pods uses an app called HomePass on the phone so you have full control over your home’s Internet WiFi.
Through the pods, I can add on a DNS but I don’t. On my Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro, I have one of the best DNS apps, that I can’t share with you due to the request of the developer. I have one of the best cache cleaners, which I will share with you all today called DangBei TV Assistant. The way to download is https://www.aftv.news/551921. This cache cleaner works on all Android devices, please know my Androids are all older versions, so this works. If you have a newer version of Android and the DangBei Assistant doesn’t work, please try SD Maid.
Also, I use the ethernet cable directly to my Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro. WiFi is great but it doesn’t travel through walls too well, this would include WiFi 5,6, and 6E. Only WiFi 2.4GHz travels the farthest and through walls, which a lot of people are not aware of. This is where the Plume Pods shine by distributing equal signals throughout the home with WiFi 5,6, and 6E.
Ok, so that is my setup so far, I am looking into buying my own Modem/Router to add on Cloudflare DNS or Digitalcourage.

Category One: Your streaming device could be the cause of buffering
Cheap streaming device
We are going to start with the streaming device. What devices are most likely to buffer? Do you know? Has anyone ever asked you that question before? Streaming devices without fans.
Think about it, our laptops and computers have fans, and your streaming device needs a fan too. What streaming devices don't have fans? Cheap ones like Firesticks, Onn Boxes, and Google TVs. I'm going to add the TiVo 4K to the mix too.
Fans, these little cheap streaming devices have no fans in the casing to keep the system cool. The system is running hot over and over again, what happens next? It starts to wear down, also making the device slower. Buying cheap streaming devices you end up paying twice, and in the world of streaming, you end up with the biggest headache of your life.
And let's talk about how they are really 32-bit which is extremely slow when streaming. Does your cheap streaming device have 32-bit or 64-bit? Most likely it’s 32-bit even though it says 64-bit. I have seen 64-bit and I’m telling you, none of these cheap devices are running real 64-bit, they are for sure 32-bit.
So there you are dealing with two problems, 32-bit is slow, no way of speeding that up. Then nothing is cooling off the system in the cheap streaming device, and at this point even if you do get something, the RAM system inside that device was not built to be powerful. They are sucking you in through marketing and you hear so many others saying hey get the Firestick, get the Chromecast, or get the Onn box. All cheap little streaming devices have a shelf life of 6 to 8 months forcing you to replace them.
You have to watch out for this trick and ask yourself? Why in the world would I buy another one of these cheap streaming devices to keep dealing with this headache that causes me stress and gives me the result I don’t want?
You have to think, ok what do I want? A streaming device that doesn’t buffer, something that is powerful and runs smooth like a knife going through room temperature butter. You have to change your streaming device to a premium streaming device if you want to stop this problem.
These are some features you need to know about the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019. It has 3GB of RAM with 64 bits with the specially made NVIDIA® Tegra® X1+ processor to play video games. Think about what this company's real business is in, GPUs.
What is Amazon's business in and what is Google's business in, nothing of them know the first thing about building amazing tech. Well, Google has the pixel but is still far from amazing like a Samsung phone. Do your research on these businesses before buying cheap stuff thinking you are saving money.
I’ll easily give away money to solve a pain-in-my-butt problem. Price is never an issue, the issue is how bad is this problem. And how fast do I want it fixed?

Category Two: You need to do maintenance on your streaming device
DangBei Assistant Cache Cleaner
I want to make this clear doing maintenance on your streaming device is important. You want to develop a habit of doing it so the buffering will stop. Now, in my opinion, this is going to go very little on the cheap streaming devices but do it anyway.
You are going to have to replace the cheap little box you are using to really get rid of the problem but you need a habit of doing maintenance to keep the cache clear. If you are using an Nvidia Shield Pro this could be your problem, clean the cache, and force-stop the applications running in the background.
Yes, force close the applications you are not using from running in the background that are taking up RAM speed. I also use something called Fast Task Killer, to help free up unused RAM running in the background.
Maintenance is going to be a huge different between a great premium streaming device and an ok premium streaming device. So put in the work now and create the habit today.

Category Three: Your internet provider
Both are trash
Here is where a ton of problems can happen. Who is your internet provider? Here is where I get a heads up of what is happening through my Plume Pods if I’m streaming and the internet company flags me, trying to throttle my internet. I can turn on my VPN on my computer, use my DNS app on my phone, and my Jailbroken Nvidia Shield Pro.
I have three options, AdGuard: 094.149.014.014/094.140.014.015, Cloudflare: 001.001.001.001/001.000.000.001, last Digitalcourage - Free of censorship: 046.182.019.048/2a02:2970:1002::18. Not too sure why the last one is so different but it’s amazing. Note: I learned something about Comcast turning off their security in their mobile app.
This is where owning your own Modem/Router is so important. You don’t need a company censoring you or even looking over your shoulders to see what it is that you are doing. You need 100% privacy, which Cloudflare gives you. I love them for Jailbroken Apple TV 4Ks, super easy to use. Owning your own Modem/Router will also make your internet way better. The equipment they lease to you is 100% trash and yet they charge a premium price if you don’t return it.
The DNS app I use for this doesn’t work on Android 11 and up. I’m not too sure if it’s going to work for cheap streaming devices either. Try putting the code on the streaming device directly and see if this helps at all. I know the fastest is CloudFlare but the drawback is that it blocks updates of third-party applications.
Controlling your setup, you will control the outcome of the streaming device. To do all of this and still use a cheap streaming device is only going to last for so long.
