Nvidia Shield TV turn on Dolby Atmos
The very popular Dolby Atmos is on the Nvidia Shield Tv & Pro 2019. I know a lot of people are thinking should they still get the Nvidia Shield Tv or Pro 2019?
I say 100% yes, besides the Android 11 update problem that can kill the device. It’s always ways around something like this. Like when you first get the device I recommend that you DON’T let it update when first plugging it in. Just hit cancel and go right to the Home Screen.
I’m going to be putting together an eBook for beginners on what to do with your new Nvidia Shield Tv Pro 2019. From when you first plug it in, to if you should even update to Android 11 once you are done fully loading the device. To gain access to that Free eBook, you must be subscribed to our Newsletter.
I’ve been diving into the Dolby add-ons for this device and I must say it’s making a statement.
I know a lot of my tech mates on YouTuber are talking about an Nvidia Shield Tv Pro killer by the name of BuzzTV XRA 4900. I would have to get my hands on that Android Box next to compare really what is the difference. I know you can add in 1TB of hard drive storage off the back. And it comes with a side-loaded app already installed onto it. (Side Note: Not a fan of that app that is already installed. I wouldn’t use it to side-load apps.)
I have the Apple Tv 4K 2021, so I can start comparing those two streaming devices once I put my setup back together. So from here, I’m going to leave below the instruction on how to turn on the Dolby Atmos. So you can get the best sound from your Nvidia Shield Tv. Also if your Dolby Atmos is not working you may have to side-load it back onto the device. Blog on that coming soon.
Written Instruction:
Go to Settings
Then down to Device Preferences
3. Then Down to Display & Sound
4. Come down to Advanced sound settings
5. Down to Select Formats. If you get there and the Select Formats is grey out. Download Kodi from the Google Play Store then come back.
6. If you see that Auto is highlighted but grey out below then it’s not On.
Auto: Use the formats that your device reports supporting (recommended)
7. Go down to Manual: Select which formats to use, then turn them all on
You are all good to go. If you use paid apps this should be on when using them. I know someone had problems with HBO Max but hopefully, that’s fixed by now. If not leave a comment below and I’ll add in how to sideload Dolby Atmos.
For people who have Kodi, signup for our Newsletter and learn how to turn on Dolby Atmos in that system.
