Sonny Vaccaro found out how important family meant to Michael Jordan and how he wouldn’t do business without their help. As Chris Tucker said in this movie, “The way to a Black Superstar is through the Mother”.

Lucky for Nike, Michael Jordan’s Mother, Deloris Jordan was a very smart woman that worked in banking. So this woman knew how money worked and how it could help her son in the long run of things. She negotiated his deal with Nike making sure Michael got a percentage of all the sales.
