Where to Watch The Batman
There is a new Batman in town!
On Friday, March 4th, 2022 a new batman movie premiered in theatres from filmmaker Matt Reeves. In this anxiously awaited movie, Robert Pattinson would be taking over from Ben Affleck as the next Caped Crusader in The Batman.
Batman has always been a fan favorite, spanning his 80-year career. His continued popularity with the general public has caused him to appear in 13 live-action films, and now a new movie has entered the frock.
While there was some slight apprehension from fans as Robert Pattinson stepped into the shoes of The Dark Knight, after watching the film from home on my streaming device, I must admit that Pattinson really did give the role justice. He offered fans a brooding, tormented Batman that is more dangerous than any other Batmans we have seen before, truly achieving what director Matt Reeves set out to achieve something different and refreshing.
The fact is, Batman is not a new character, so the idea of creating something different really did not seem reachable. However, by focusing on a side of Batman that hasn’t really been looked into before, Matt Reeves was able to give us a gripping crime mystery drama.
The Batman really zones into the title of Batman as “The World’s Greatest Detective” as he moves through the underworld of Gotham trying to figure out the clues left by serial killer Riddler (played by Paul Dano), who is murdering Gotham’s corrupt elite.
As he teams up with Selina Kyle (also known as Catwoman) and Lieutenant James Gordon, you can really see Batman play the detective as he tries to figure out what is the grand plan of the psychopathic Riddler.
Paul Dano’s Riddler takes the Riddler to a whole new level, taking this whacky character from the whacky trickster we are used to in the comics, to a level that is more comparable to Jigsaw in the Saw series. Nonetheless, all I can say is a thoroughly enjoyed the three hours spent doing a deep dive into Gotham city with the Dark Knight again. I dare say that The Batman movie may go into the records as one of the best Batman films out there.
