Today let’s dive into the world of Nvidia Shields and which one you should buy in 2022, going into 2023 now moving into 2024. This blog is updated to help you when buying the best premium streaming device.
So at this point in time, no one knows if a new Shield is coming out. If it does I think we would see it in 2023 or even 2025 due to the chip shortage.
But here we are in the Fall of 2023 and I haven’t heard a word about a New Nvidia Shield yet. I will say there is one Nvidia Shield still going strong and is still the KING of all streaming devices.

My answer is NO.
With only 8GB of storage and 2GB of RAM, this model falls short of delivering a seamless experience. Many users have reported issues with this device, which can be particularly challenging for non-tech-savvy individuals.
At the premium price of $149.99, I did expect the Nvidia Shield TV 2019 to outperform other small streaming devices in the field. Yet, it seems to have the same issue as the other small tube-like streaming devices, buffering.
I think this is due to none of these tube-like streaming devices having fans to cool the streaming device when needed the most. A big plus is you can expand the storage up to 1TB.
Unfortunately, the buffering problems are going to outweigh the ability to expand storage.

Here is where these devices start to pull apart from one another. They both will come with Android 11. But the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 we offer running Android 9 version 8.2.1. We downgraded from Android 11 back to Android 9.

When it comes to loading the two Nvidia Shields, I was able to put our whole Elite System onto the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019.

5 years ago Nvidia came out with the Nvidia Shield Tv Pro with 500GB. You got everything you needed in the box along with the controller.
I always tell people to go with the best device on the market which is Nvidia Shield TV Pro running Android 9. But should you look at buying an Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2017?
Hell YES! With 500GB of space, yes look to see if you can get a brand new one, DON’T buy anything refurbished.
I’m not sure if I would recommend buying a used one from somebody unless you know how to flash the system. Which is just downgrading the update. My mind is blown 🤯 thinking about 500GB already built into the physical device.
So why should you get one of the Nvidia Shield TV Pros?
Hands down these Android boxes are the best streaming devices on the market for everything you want to do with it them. With the 2019 Nvidia Shield TV Pro, I can easily put 55 APKs on it and it will still run smoothly with only 16GB. From there you can add on a 4TB SSD Drive.
With 500GB I could probably do 1,000 apps, 500 saved movies & tv shows. At this rate, I’m talking myself into getting one of the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2017 models.
I will be looking at eBay first to see what the prices are. I’m not a trusting fan of Amazon so if I look there it will be with extreme caution.
