Stop listening to YouTubers and their so-called opinions about streaming devices. Some of the YouTubers do know what they are talking about but you won’t know what is the truth until you get these streaming devices in your hands yourself. Each year they are promoting the newest and latest streaming device that is the killer of the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019. Why?
They are making money to hype up these products. But do they really use them themselves? Hell no. They test them out for the YouTube video and go right back to using their Nvidia Shield Pros.
They keep saying oh, this one is the Nvidia Shield TV Pro killer. All lies I tell you. Nvidia makes GPU chips, no other company could ever really complete if they put out a new Nvidia Shield TV Pro with all the bells and whistles. Nvidia is kicking back to see who can even catch up. Apple came close, the problem is the limited amount of TVOS IPAs that are out right now, they are very low.
I said close, you can use the Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019 as a Plex Server. That alone just killed all other streaming devices on the market. It killed all of these 4 streaming devices on my list below. The 5 cheap streaming devices you need to stop buying.
Firesticks, I don’t care if it’s the Firestick 4K Max 2023 or the Fire Cube 3, it’s trash. These boxes are always on sale because it was so cheap to make them from the start. I tried the Firestick 4K Max out, and oh boy it was so slow. I had to make sure I was still alive. Two problems with the Firestick 4K Max it’s running on 32-bit, which means the device is slow. Then I found out you need to buy the ethernet adapter for the stick so it won’t buffer. I went a little crazy that day to all the other stuff I had to add on.
Onn Box is the newest device that came out in the summer of 2023. I believe you can only get this device from Walmart for about $30. Everyone online is buying the Onn Box, which has a micro sim card slot to expand the storage. Here is where it’s falling short, the Android 12 software system running on this device is going to outrun the device. With one update from the software system, the Onn Box is going to be something that everybody forgets. Due to all the problems, the update can bring to a cheaply-made box. When you are cheap parts running your RAM, the device already doesn’t have enough space, even if you expand the storage. That RAM is everything, then is the box 32-bit or 64-bit? The helps control the speed, 32-bit is crazy slow.
Google Chrome Cast, these things are DOA. Dead on arrival, the software system is so powerful the physical device can not keep up. It’s so bad once you download a few third-party apps the device will start to freeze up on you. This was the last cheap device I bought before making the move over to the Nvidia Shield TV Pro. After 3 months, this device would just freeze and buffering so much that I couldn’t get through a movie at all.
G7 Max Android TV is the newest kick on the block right now the Spring of 2024. Please know, YouTubers and blogger are being paid to push this device to you. Another cheaply made device from China is sold on Amazon. Be careful with these Chinese boxes, you are getting from Amazon. It’s been proven they are coming with malware on them already. I’m not saying it’s this box. But a ton of the boxes are, I’ll post the video here.
Homatics Android TV, coming in at $149.99, this should feel premium. It feels cheap, another Chinese box people are pushing to get kickbacks on. And they are trying to compete with Nvidia Shield TV Pro with the gaming. They really should go there, Nvidia's name stands for, “Their comparing is so far ahead everyone will be Green with Envy.” It took a little while to find out what the interface looks like, Android 11 or Android 12, either way, the Ads on the Home Screen are there.
